From November 4, 2008, in the Art Gallery PUTTI, Marstalu 16, will be presented exhibition of Swedish jewellery designer Efva Attling.
Efva Attling was born in Stockholm and made her first piece of jewellery when she was eleven. At the age of sixteen she became an apprentice of Bengt Liljedahl, who is one of the best silversmiths in Sweden. A year later, Eileen Ford encouraged the young Efva to embark on modelling career. As a result, she has designed clothes for such brands as Levi’s and H&M.
Efva’s interest in music stems from her family. In 1981 she started a band called “X Models”. Their song Two of Us composed by Efva became a huge hit in the 80’s.
In 1996 Efva returned to her starting point – working with silver, gold and precious stones. Nowadays she designs eyewear as well as crystal glasses for Orrefors. She also created the glass-and-platinum trophy awarded at the Swedish Grammy gala and the 18k golden pin for the Carl XVI Gustaf “Young Leadership” foundation.
Efva Attling opened her first workshop in central Stockholm in February 1999. This year her company celebrates its 10th anniversary.
“Beauty with a Thought” is Efva’s own definition of her jewellery. As the jewellery editor of the British Vogue, Carol Woolton, puts it:
“Her sleek strong lines in silver and gold are fresh and clean, but with a loop in silver or a dash of diamonds or a brilliant blue topaz, she adds a touch of warmth and luxury.”
